Definition of terms

Constitutional Rights - pertains to the rights that are conferred and protected by the constitution. They cannot be modified or be taken away by the law-making body.

Civil Rights - is a classification of a constitutional right which the alw enforces at the instance of private individuals for the purpose of securing them. Examples of civil rights and liberties include the right to get redress if injured by another, the right to privacy, the right of peaceful protest, the right to a fair investigation and trial if suspected of a crime, and more generally-based constitutional rights such as the right to vote, the right to personal freedom, the right to freedom of movement and the right of equal protection.

Statutory Rights - provided by laws promulgated by the law-making body and may be abolished by the same body. These rights are considered to be automatic and implied under an agreed contract.
